Potala Palace Free of Charge to Tourists for Three Months Till April 30

Potala Palace tour is free of charge to tourists in winterPotala Palace, located in capital city Lhasa of Tibet Autonomous Region in west China, will be opened to all the people in the world free of charge for 3 months to promote winter tours in Tibet.
Potala Palace was built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century and expanded in the 17th century by the 5th Dalai Lama. The palace, a symbol of Tibetan Buddhism, was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994.
From February 1 to April 30, entry to all the scenic spots in Lhasa including Potala Palace will be free of charge to tourists as part of "Winter Tourism in Tibet" program which also includes free admission to all other quality tourist attractions all over Tibet, plus discounts or subsidies given to tourists in terms of hotels and transportation.
