First Self-Drive Tour Camp to Build in Nyingtri of Tibet
NYINGTRI in eastern Tibet plans to build the first campsite self-driving tours in the region, and hopes to build the campsite into a dream place for increasingly popular self-drive tours.
The camp will be set up at the entrance of the Pailung Grand Canyon in Nyingtri County in the second half of 2010, and there will be parking lots, hotels, and other facilities so tourists can rest, have their broken-down cars repaired and enjoy other services, according to the Tibet Tourism Bureau.
The National Highway 318 that passes through Nyingtri is praised as "China's Picturesque Corridor," and it is generally acknowledged that the view along Highway 318 from Chamdo to Nyingchi is the most splendid and magnificent.
It is in urgent to accelerate the construction of tourist infrastructure in Nyingtri now.The establishment of self-drive camp is one of the methods to provide the travellers with better services.
Boasting abundant world-class tourist resources such as the Namjiagbarwa Peak, the most beautiful mountain in China and Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, Nyingtri received 420,000 tourists in the first half of 2010 with the tourist revenue hitting 210 million yuan, up 14% and 17% year on year respectively.
