15 Cyclists Bike to Lhasa along National 318 Sichuan-Tibet Highway
"WOW! We have made it at long last!" While taking photos on the Potala Palace Square in Tibet's capital of Lhasa, 15 cyclists from Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, could not hold back their excitement.
Starting from Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province on Sept. 30, the group arrived in Lhasa via the Sichuan-Tibet Highway on Oct. 15.
"We always longed for a bike trip to Tibet. For us cyclists, the 2,100-kilometer Sichuan-Tibet route is dangerous but we can enjoy the enchanting views along the way. During the 16 days, we crossed ten mountains towering more than 4,000 m above sea level. It is really worth recollecting all our life the pleasant flavor of the journey," said the team leader Zhu Jiangbo.
"Tibet has unique charming landscapes and its people are very kind and friendly." The youngest cyclist by the name of Li indicated that he would visit Tibet again if possible.
